Liberty Karate Club

Liberty Karate Club was born in 2003 as an outreach ministry to bring people who had a desire to learn karate-do into a relationship with Jesus Christ. We teach Matsubayashi Ryu Karate-do. The kanji (characters) for Matsubayashi Ryu can be read as either "Matsubayashi Ryu" or "Shorin Ryu". Though the terms are interchangable, it should be pointed out that there ARE four styles of Shorin Ryu, and if you wanted to distinguish our style from the other three, then the designation Matsubayashi Ryu would be the correct one. Matsubayashi Ryu was created by Grandmaster Shoshin Nagamine in 1947. We are the Orlando representatives of the N.A.M.K.A. headed by Don Caponigro, 7th Dan Kyoshi. Liberty Karate Club is located at Friends Community Church in East Orlando and we invite you to stop by and visit if you are in the area!

Men must eliminate narrow-mindedness which causes them to stand against their fellows, and aquire broad-mindedness. This is possible through the study of karate. Karate as it should be practiced is not a competitive or violent sport, where men are pitted against each other. Nor is it physical training merely for the sake of training, where the goal is merely that of smashing boards or bricks. Karate is a training of both mind and body, and leads one to a better understanding of both the self and the world. Amidst the noise and rapid changes of modern society, one can find in karate-do a peace of mind that will never be shaken.
